About Us

Tamahar, a non-profit organization founded in 2009 by Ms. Vaishali Pai, is dedicated to supporting children facing developmental delays due to brain damage, including conditions like Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Rare diseases, and Genetic disorders. As one of the best NGOs working for childhood disability in India, our holistic developmental intervention approach encompasses Core intervention, Functional Education, Pre-vocational training, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Music Therapy, Yoga, Arts, Dance, and Sports.

As a top developmental disabilities organization offering a comprehensive range of services tailored to the unique needs of each child from birth onwards, we are recognized as an NGO for the mentally challenged in Bangalore, specializing in providing transformative interventions to enhance the lives of children facing developmental challenges.

In addition to our core services, we extend support to families through mental health services designed to help them cope with stress. We also offer skill development programs for mothers, empowering them with profitable skills. Milestone

Humble beginnings with just 4 children in May our very first EI program and 2 employees.

We started our functional academics program for children who needed education in special settings and also started a Mother's support Group program. Had our first Summer Camp for the children (full-day adapted sports fun).

By the end of the year, we leapt to the milestone of 35 children, 11 staff and conducted summer camps for children and their mothers.

First venture into rural India with new branches at Pali (Rajasthan) and Hutti (North Karnataka). Reached 45 children and had 26 staff in Bangalore.Also initiated hobby classes for children.

We started our new 3 programs Prevocational training, Sheltered Workshop and Nursery class with 50 children and 30 employees. We won the newly instituted N S Hema Memorial Award (by APD) in its inaugural year. We were certified by the Social Audit Network And Credibility Alliance.

We reached 65 families with 35 staff and we also started our Father Support Group and Skill Development program for Unpaid Caregivers.

Successfully navigated the COVID years (2020-2022) by transitioning to online training (parent-supported for younger children) and showed amazing improvement in 50 children.

Reached 300 beneficiaries with 14 programs and 40 staff with a new branch at Chikkabidarakallu as an outreach program.

This year we supported 92 children and 276 caregivers. Our long-awaited Vision Therapy program was kicked off.This year we started our functional English training program as offline (earlier it was online) for mothers. As a remarkable highlight of this year, we started our new outreach project in Madanayakanahalli to reach the unreached (Shifted from Chikkabidarakallu) .
